Privacy Notice (POPIA)

1. Who we are

The Association for Black Business Rescue and Insolvency Practitioners of South Africa ("ABRIPSA", "the Association", "we") is a voluntary professional association. For the purposes of POPIA the Association is the responsible party in respect of personal information processed through this website and its membership administration.

2. What we collect

Enquiries — name, email address and the content of your message when you use the contact form or email the secretariat.
Membership — identity, qualification, professional-standing and practice information supplied in applications, and records of good standing, CPD and subscriptions for admitted members.
Events — registration details for seminars and gatherings.
Technical — standard server logs (IP address, pages requested, timestamps) kept by our hosting provider for security and diagnostics. This website does not set analytics or advertising cookies.

3. Why we process it

To respond to enquiries and referrals, including confidential referrals of financially distressed businesses to practitioners.
To assess membership applications, maintain the membership register and certify good standing — processing necessary for the conclusion and performance of the membership relationship.
To administer events, CPD records and subscriptions.
To publish a members directory, only with the consent of the member concerned.
To comply with legal obligations and to protect the legitimate interests of the Association and the profession.

4. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared with: our hosting provider (as operator, on our instructions); the Masters' offices, the CIPC, professional bodies or organs of state where a member requests certification of good standing or the law requires it; and professional advisers under confidentiality.

5. Retention

Enquiries are retained for as long as needed to deal with the matter. Membership records are retained for the duration of membership and thereafter as required by law or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

6. Security

The site is served over HTTPS; mailboxes are password-protected and access is limited to the secretariat and office-bearers who need it. No internet transmission is perfectly secure; do not submit information of a highly confidential nature through the contact form.

7. Your rights

Subject to POPIA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to processing or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Directory listings are removed on request. To exercise any right, contact the secretariat at info@abripsa.org.za.

8. Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our handling of your information you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.
