Our mission
ABRIPSA is a voluntary professional association of Black liquidators, trustees, business rescue practitioners, attorneys, advocates and accountants practising in South Africa's insolvency and corporate restructuring industry. Our members serve on the Masters' panels of the High Courts and are appointed in liquidations, sequestrations, curatorships and business rescue proceedings across the country.
The insolvency profession has historically been one of the least transformed corners of the South African economy. ABRIPSA exists to change that: we advocate for equitable appointment practices, certify the good standing of our members, and invest in the development of the next generation of practitioners.
The Association participates in policy processes of the Department of Justice, the Chief Master and the CIPC, and has intervened in litigation of national importance to the profession — including the constitutional challenge to the Minister's 2014 appointment policy, where ABRIPSA appeared as a full party in defence of transformation.

2010sFormation and early advocacyBlack practitioners organise to challenge the concentration of insolvency appointments, engaging the Masters' offices and the Reserve Bank over appointment practices in high-profile liquidations.

2014–15Intervention in the appointment-policy litigationABRIPSA is admitted as a full party in the Western Cape High Court challenge to the Minister of Justice's transformation policy for insolvency appointments, arguing — with three counsel — for demographic reform of the Masters' panels.

2017–Business rescue eraAs Chapter 6 practice matures and the CIPC licenses practitioners, ABRIPSA supports members through the licensing process and builds CPD programming around rescue practice.

TodayNational footprintA National Executive supported by provincial structures, with members on Masters' panels in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Cape Town, Bloemfontein and Mafikeng.
